I am always fascinated by the history of lingerie-each milestone is a step forward in the evolution to current designs.

1905 Vendome Corbeille Rose

Chantelle is one of my favourite brands since I was first introduced to bras myself (and a favourite of many of our customers) and it has played a leading role in the development of the lingerie we wear and enjoy today.

I like to think of it as the “Champagne of Lingerie”!

Manufactured since 1876 in the Champagne region of France, it is described as having the “Chantelle spirit” and “French allure”: every garment’s precise fit and couture design reflects years of expertise in a craft passed along from generation to generation.

Did you know that Chantelle created the first elasticized fabric with two-way stretchin 1878?! This opened up amazing new possibilities for innovations in corset making at that time. Almost 100 years later, when the brand’s focus had shifted from corsetry to bras, Chantelle launched its “Defi” collection and the first seamless bra with molded cups that provided actual support!

Always inspired to stretch the limits, Chantelle became the first lingerie brand ever featured in the artistic world of Assouline, renowned publishers of the most sophisticated books in the world.
