2013 Highlights

At the beginning of each new year, as many of us do, I like to reflect back on the year that’s just passed. Aren’t you always amazed when you realize all of the things that take place over the course of any given year?

Early in 2013 I lost my dear Mother, so throughout this entire year there has been an undercurrent of sadness, despite our triumphs and highlights. But it’s also been a year of remembering special times with her and thankfulness for her long and loving life.

One my proudest accomplishments at Linea Intima this year, was receiving Intima magazine’s 2013 Best Retail Development Award, for North America, which was presented to me at the Best of Intima gala award event in New York city (our industry’s Oscars!). This award is very special because it honours our work as recognized by our peers.

It has been a very busy year at all of our stores, but particularly in London, with the relocation of that store this fall. Now that we’re all settled in, I can tell you, we’re absolutely loving the charming new space at our new address - 515 Richmond Street, Unit 11, London, ON N6A 5N4.

Speaking of relocation, one year after the extensive renovation of our Bayview Village store, we are seeing the benefits - and still enjoy sharing its glam new look with both current customers and new lingerie lovers who wander in attracted by what they see!

I am happy to say our customer database has grown steadily, not only in-store but also through increased conversation with you, through our monthly newsletter and website blogs. We’ve created an active voice on the social media scene thanks to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. Stay in touch and be the first to know about new styles as they arrive and all the latest lingerie news!

I think the most significant change that has affected us as retailers, is the customer’s awareness on a global scale – punctuated by this year’s garment industry tragedies - which have spawned a grassroots interest to not only buy local, but to purchase with a consciousness to quality and value (that doesn’t come at the expense of safely and lifestyle in other countries). We have always carefully chosen to work with companies that not only stand behind their products, but also stand behind and support the people who make them. We will continue to be dedicated to best practices in sourcing suppliers and to ensuring you the best value for your lingerie dollar.

Wishing you a healthy, happy and prosperous 2014!
